Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'nighttime shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'nighttime shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'nighttime shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'nighttime shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

"MMMmmm chocolate!"

- Everybody

'Chocolate' is a delicious modern cuckoo clock inspired by blocks of chocolate, namely the 'cremino' style of sweet from Italy. Designed by Giorgio Scorza Priano for Progetti, this quirky wall cuckoo clock comes complete with an animated cuckoo bird and moving pendulum. It's colours depict some delicious and adventurous flavours of chocolate such as peppermint, traditional 'cremino', raspberry and finally coconut - each with three different tones of colour per model depicting the 'three layers' traditionally found in 'cremino'.

In case you didn't know 'cremino' is a chocolate originally from Piedmont, in northern Italy, composed by three layers of chocolate, the outer ones are made with gianduja chocolate, while the inner one can be made with coffee, lemon or hazelnut paste.

This modern-style cuckoo clock is made of fine quality wood and painted in non-toxic paint, this modern cuckoo clock is available in four colours - White and grey, purple, brown, and finally green.

This cuckoo clock's 'quartz movement' is battery powered and the cuckoo strike, which chimes on the hour with the sound of a light babbling brook and sweet cuckoo call, can be volume controlled and is also switched off automatically during the night by a built-in light sensor.

All Progetti cuckoo clocks are fitted with an Engstler™ clock & cuckoo mechanism which is custom built by the Engstler cuckoo clock manufacturer in the Black Forest region, Germany. Their craftsmanship ensures your cuckoo clock works as wonderfully as the world-famous traditional cuckoo clocks of the Black Forest region.

All Progetti cuckoo clocks are tested for a 24-hour period prior to their shipment to ensure the highest level of quality.
