Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

'Nido' Cuckoo Clock (White) by Progetti

Brand: Progetti

Model ID: progetti-2435-white

CHRISTMAS DELIVERY TIMES: With increased courier demand, and also logistic issues caused by Brexit and Covid, we make no guarantees for whether orders made on the 7th of December (or later) will arrive before Christmas for our UK customers. Also, the Progetti workshop closes over Christmas and New Years, so if any orders are made after the 7th of December, there is a strong chance that they WILL NOT be dispatched before Christmas and in fact will most likely be ready to ship in late January or early Feburary once Progetti are back from holiday. As an alternative, we offer a range of 'custom message' gift cards which makes for a unique present. They can be used at any time and are sent to you digitally. See our range of Gift Cards here.

IMPORT COSTS: Cuckoo Collections is proud to announce that we will pay for ALL customs charges or Import VAT costs for our UK customers (due to the new Brexit trade union with the EU). We don't want our UK customers being surprised by any additional charges. Therefore, if you are notified of any customs charges then please let us know. We will organise to have these paid or the amounts refunded back to you.

The 'Nido' is a modern cuckoo clock inspired by the rustic charm of a simple off-cut of wood.

Designed by Nazzareno Ruspolini for Italian home and compliemnts leaders Progetti, this modern cuckoo clock is comprised of the main cylindrical "woodsmans off-cut" (in which the cuckoo bird resides), with a 'small branch' and elegant copper leaf. More suited as a table-clock instead of a wall cuckoo clock, it is perfect for any bookshelf, shelving or surface in the modern or traditional home or office. It's copper hands are installed on an angled surface to ensure the clock can be read from any position.

This cuckoo clock is finished in environmentally friendly non-toxic paint and comes in either white or black. It is driven by battery quartz movement and the cuckoo strike, which chimes on the hour with the sound of a light babbling brook and sweet cuckoo call, comes equipped with a light-sensor which switches off the sound automatically during the night or when the room is dark.

All Progetti Cuckoo Clocks are tested for a 24-hour period prior to their shipment to ensure the highest level of quality.

Worried about your order arriving on time? Nine out of ten of our orders arrive within the estimated delivery time or even earlier. However sometimes there can be factors (such as availability and delivery location) that can affect the delivery time and lengthen it by a few days or even a week or two for some more complex models. In such cases we will keep you informed of the delay and work with the the manufacturer and courier throughout the process to make it as simple as possible for you to rest assured knowing your clock is on track to you. Many of our clocks are held in stock with our suppliers but, depending on the model/brand, some are built-to-order by one of our many manufacturers in Italy, Germany, Japan or Switzerland. We appreciate your patience in such cases and we will inform you of the tracking details as soon as your order is shipped from the manufacturer or supplier.

At any time, if you have questions or concerns about the delivery time of your order (maybe because it's for a birthday, wedding or Christmas present) then let us know and we will do our best to fast-track the order with our manufacturers. Contact us here.
