Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

A cuckoo clock with a lovely roof that looks like the ears of a dachshund brings enjoyment to your daily life.

The 'Dachs Cuckoo' cuckoo clock is a sleek, modern cuckoo clock created by Japanese design leaders 'Lemnos'. Its bold shape, crafted from synthetics and steel, combines with its large type-face to create a stylish modern cuckoo clock. Choose between three different colours: Blue, Yellow or Grey. Shaped much like a birdhouse, the 'Dachs Cuckoo ' can be used as either a wall clock or table clock.

Cuckoo Chime

Each hour the cuckoo bird becomes animated and pops out of its door to sing in the time with the lovely sound of its cuckoo call over the soft sound of a babbling of a brook.

Battery controlled and with a two-step volume control, this modern cuckoo clock comes complete with a light sensor that allows it to switch it's sound off automatically at night time.
