Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

Winter has gone,
April is no more,
May has returned
To the song of the cuckoo.

Meet the 'Cucu Primavera' by Italian designers Pirondini. It is a modern cuckoo clock which draws inspiration from the Italian song 'L'inverno se n'è andato' meaning 'Winter is gone'. Beautifully decorated with colourful violets, like the ones that appear in Spring, the notes and lyrics of the song for which it takes it's name adorn the front of the cuckoo clock. In fact, the melody and verse speak of the 'cuckoo bird' which sings and builds it's nest as May has returned. This wall cuckoo clock is perfect for any age range from children to adults, it's light airy design perfect for a bedroom or living room.

Enclosed within it is a battery powered clockwork mechanism that allows for the little cuckoo bird to spring from it's hollow and sing in each hour with it's distinct 'cuckoo' call and the soft sound of a running river.

Crafted from high quality MDFand printed with the Mondrian inspired artwork, this cuckoo clock comes with a night-time shut-off feature which disables the sound when the lights are off, meaning you or your family will never be disturbed while you are sleeping.

All of our cuckoo clocks come with a 30-day money back guarantee and free shipping.
