This beautifully carved 8-day movement traditional musical cuckoo clock is crafted by renowned Black Forest cuckoo clock manufacturer 'Hönes'.
Standing at 62cm's tall, this traditional cuckoo clock is hand-carved by a master carver in the Black Forest, Germany. Made from wood sourced locally from the region, it stunningly combines several iconic elements of the famous Black Forest.
Designed in the traditional 'hunting-style', it features a large beautifully carved full-bodied stag which is mounted at it's top. It stands on a bed of carved grass, with it's beautifully crafted long antlers and fur. Below it are two crossed rifles, elegantly carved and engraved with design flourishes. On either side, two smaller stag heads are mounted between the oak leaves. The wooden clock face, with it's wooden hands and Roman numerals, is encircled by a fürst pless horn. At either side of the clock face, a realistically hand-carved rabbit and falcon pose majestically, and below a game bag hangs from the pless horn. Carved oak leaves build a symmetry around the clock and beautifully frame all of it's elements.
Above the clock face, on a balcony at the front of the clock, a carousel of small hand-painted village dancers rotate and twirl when the melody plays - either "Edelweiss" and "The Happy Wanderer".
Stained in an 'antique walnut' finish, this 8-day movement carved musical cuckoo clock is perfect for adding some rustic charm, and a touch of life and sound to any living room, hallway or study.
This clock features a charming little cuckoo bird which animates from behind it's little door and sings in the hour (a succession of cuckoo calls to correspond to the hour in the day). The sound can be turned off manually at night with a 'sound-off' lever.
The cuckoo clock plays it's melodies through a mechanical Swiss-made music box that alternates between the songs "The Happy Wanderer" and "Edelweiss". The sound can be switched off at night with a manual lever.
This cuckoo clock has 8-day movement meaning approximately every eight days the clock needs to be manually wound although you are free to wind it at any time within this period. The act of winding the cuckoo clock is very easy and only requires someone to gently pull on the chains so that the weights are drawn back to their utmost position. Gravity does the rest and ensures the clock can be kept perfectly on time as the weight lowers and slowly pulls the chain back through the clock-work mechanism.
