Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'nighttime shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.
Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'nighttime shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.
Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'nighttime shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

Are you missing a hot sun and warm sea? The 'Capri' cuckoo clocks by Progetti is inspired by one of the most sought after tourist destinations of Italy - the island of the Gulf of Naples, a place to vacation and relax. This cuckoo has bright colours and clean lines reminiscent of the cabins bathing facilities with the typical lighthouse colours which is itself a simple and iconic object that contains so many emotions and memories.
Designed by renowned Italian designer Alberto Sala (see below), the 'Capri' cuckoo clock is of such refined and notable design that it is included in the permanent exhibition of the 'Deutsches Uhrenmuseum' - the historical German Clock Museum which holds one of the largest cuckoo clock collections from all over the world.
This cuckoo clock is made of wood and comes in four colour variations - a red and white, a blue and white, a red and white and a natural wood and white - which are all painted in a nontoxic paint. It's quartz movement is battery powered and the cuckoo strike, which chimes on the hour with the sound of a light babbling brook and sweet cuckoo call, can be volume controlled and is also switched off automatically during the night by a built-in light sensor.
All Progetti cuckoo clocks are fitted with an Engstler™ clock & cuckoo mechanism which is custom built by the Engstler cuckoo clock manufacturer in the Black Forest region, Germany. Their craftsmanship ensures your cuckoo clock works as wonderfully as the world-famous traditional cuckoo clocks of the Black Forest region.
