Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

Modern art meets the modern cuckoo clock in this beautifully crafted piece which is inspired by the art and style of the famous artist 'Joan Miró'. Shaped like a three-dimensional rectangular canvas and complete with a functional cuckoo bird and clock, it is perfect for lovers of modern art.

This cuckoo clock is part of an ongoing series entitled "D'Apres" whose designs pay homage to some famous masters of art including Banksy, Picasso, Kandinsky, Klee, Miro, Matisse, Munari, Fontana, Haring, Mondrian, Warhol, KlimtDa VinciBasquiatGioHokusai and Lichtenstein.

Crafted in Italy by designers Pirondini, this cuckoo clock pays homage to Miró's famous 'abstract' art style, known for its beautiful stylised objects and bright colours.

Enclosed within the clock is a battery-powered clockwork mechanism that allows for the little cuckoo bird to spring from it's hollow and sing in each hour with it's distinct 'cuckoo' call and the soft sound of a running river.

Crafted from high-quality MDF and printed with artwork inspired by the artist, this cuckoo clock comes with a night-time shut-off 'light sensor' which disables the sound when the lights are off, meaning you or your family will never be disturbed when the lights are off. This cuckoo clock does not feature a pendulum and can either be used as a wall clock or a table/mantle clock.

The designers who have interpreted the famous master's works include Irene Guerrieri, Playdesign, Ezio Pescatori, Pagliaro & Saiano, Giovanni Pirondini, Marcello Panza and Luca Galbusera.

This cuckoo clock features:

  • Battery-powered quartz movement.
  • The sweet sound of the cuckoo bird call each hour with the light background noise of a soft babbling forest brook.
  • A light sensor with automatic night shut-off which disables the cuckoos sound when the lights are off.
  • Two levels of volume in addition to a muted volume setting.

All of our cuckoo clocks come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and free shipping.
