What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?
Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.
Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.
Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

The 'Fort Knox' is a stunning, modern cuckoo clock that aptly named for its unique metallic finish and angular shape. In the colourful design world, various finishes are constantly evolving and Progetti has applied one such new finish - a way to make a metallic liquid so that it can be applied to the wood giving it the feel of real metal. The effect obtained is completely new and the application procedure is actually quite complex, making for a very precious and unique end result where no two pieces are identical. Thus, for their 30th anniversary, the Italian design company 'Progetti have brought out this limited edition cuckoo clock with the help from German designer Ewald Winkelbauer.
This cuckoo clock comes in three colour variants - 'black and silver leaf', 'black and golden leaf', 'black and copper leaf'. It is driven by battery quartz movement and the cuckoo strike, which chimes on the hour with the sound of a light babbling brook and sweet cuckoo call, is switched off automatically during the night by a built-in light sensor controls. This clock can be set as either a wall clock or a table-set clock.
All Progetti cuckoo clocks are fitted with an Engstler™ clock & cuckoo mechanism which is custom built by the Engstler cuckoo clock manufacturer in the Black Forest region, Germany. Their craftsmanship ensures your cuckoo clock works as wonderfully as the world-famous traditional cuckoo clocks of the Black Forest region.
All Progetti cuckoo clocks are tested for a 24-hour period prior to their shipment to ensure the highest level of quality.

Meet the Designer of Progetti's 'Fort Knox' Cuckoo Clock: Ewald Winkelbauer
"Understanding with all your senses" is the working philosophy of the German designer Ewald Winkelbauer. This becomes visible not only with its pens, household items, lamps and street furniture made for renowned companies. He has received many national and international design awards and some of his works are exhibited in the MIK museum in Ludwigsburg. Probably there is no one who has not had in his hand his reworking of the Stabilo Boss Textmarker. His passion for designing watches began when he was still a student. His ambition is not to capture time through numbers but rather to create space for time.

However sometimes there can be factors (such as availability and delivery location) that can affect the delivery time and lengthen it by a few days or even a week or two for some more complex models. In such cases we will keep you informed of the delay and work with the the manufacturer and courier throughout the process to make it as simple as possible for you to rest assured knowing your clock is on track to you. Many of our clocks are held in stock with our suppliers but, depending on the model/brand, some are built-to-order by one of our many manufacturers in Italy, Germany, Japan or Switzerland. We appreciate your patience in such cases and we will inform you of the tracking details as soon as your order is shipped from the manufacturer or supplier.
